The Awakening
Tonight I went into DC and saw the Cherry Blossoms - AND one of Washington's most famous non memorial statues called The Awakening. It is a unique statue created by J. Seward Johnson. The statue is designed to appear to be much more than it actually is. It depicts a giant - poking out of the ground upon waking up from a slumber. As such, his head, both hands, his right knee, and his right foot are visible. Here are a few pictures from tonight - pretty crazy huh? Click here for more pictures if you are interested :)

Hi Kristin,
I'm a friend of Tammy B's and have read your blog a few times.
I saw the Awakening statue when I was in DC several years ago - and I think it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Any time I know a friend is heading to DC I recommend that they check it out!

The Cherry Blossoms are BEAUTIFUL! Have you ever done the blossom trail around Fresno County? So colorful!
