What's on my mind at 3am
The weather in Fresno has been crazy warm! I haven't had to wear my wool peacoat since I've been here - that's pretty insane - I could have saved the space in my suitcase had I known!
This time of year always passes too quickly. Before I know it, I'll be back on a plane flying home to usual routine. I'm so grateful that God has given me this time to spend with my family and friends. I'm looking forward to 2006 - to challenging myself in several areas of my life - to discipline myself and to grow spiritually, to reach my physical goals, and to accomplish new projects around my house. Each of these will prove to be difficult at times - each with their own set of challenges and I'm sure successes, and I know that I will have to depend on God in each scenario to make the progress I'm striving for.
My heart goes out to Matt and Mel. I can't imagine what Mel and her family are going through with the sudden and tragic loss of her father nearly two weeks ago. Praise the Lord that her father was a man of God and a solid believer - he is now in Heaven. Life in heaven is better for him, but his family is still mourning his loss I'm sure. Lord - please comfort the Friesen family and surround them with your heavenly angels - let them feel your presence and your loving arms wrapped around each of them. May Mel's father always be remembered for the caring roles he was to all his family and friends.
I've eaten too much junk food in the past week - way too much. Rice Krispy treats, cheesecake, cookies, crackers, cheesy potatoes, soda, chocolate-covered almonds and peanuts, the list goes on and on. I hope I haven't gained any weight! - because I feel like I have and that makes me sad. Yes, it's Christmastime, but why do I feel the need the eat all the crappy food? I will have to get down to business after the holidays are over!
I'm really tired now that it's almost 3:30am - time for me to go to bed. My cat is waiting for me on my bed - he is so adorable - he sleeps with me everynight - he actually lays underneath my right arm and rests his head on my forearm / wrist. I love my kitty - and I really do think I'm going to get a kitten soon after getting home to VA - perhaps within a few months - I have to figure out the cat door situation - I want the kitty to be able to get in and out on its own :)
That's it for now - I'm falling asleep!

It's perfectly acceptable to eat junk food at the holidays. In fact, it's one of the only times of the year where you have a good excuse for doing it. Seriously, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The rest of the year you have to eat healthy. So SPLURGE a little now, it's okay! (I say this as I change my clothes and head off to the gym because I'VE eaten too many chocolate chip cookies at the lake this weekend. Can't resist mom's baking!!) :-)
