Bridesmaid dress fiasco

OK - so I'm in a wedding THIS Saturday........when I was in Fresno over Memorial Day, I was measured for the dress. It was supposed to arrive in time for me to try it on for the alterations over Labor Day. Well, the dress didn't arrive in time. So then I had to decide if I would have the dress shipped to Virginia, where I'd have to find a seamstress, then cart the dress WITH me to CA, or leave the dress at the bridal shop in Fresno. Well after talking to the bridal shop, who assured me time and again that everything would be fine and that if they had to they would bring the dress to me on Saturday morning in time for the wedding, I decided to leave the dress in Fresno. A new seamstress was going to alter my dress on my timeline. A few weeks ago, once I received a letter informing me that the dress arrived, I had to make an appointment (within TWO days) of the wedding to try it on (and I haven't even SEEN the dress yet!), and get alterations - yikes! Well the lady I spoke with, the reassuring one, set me up with good times on Thursday for the initial fitting, and then Friday for the second fitting. Afterall, I'm not going to have extra time to spare. Well today, Sara (the bride) calls me and says that Krista (the maid of honor) was in getting her alterations done and asked about my dress and the seamstress informed her she was taking my dress home (a different seamstress). So Krista calls Sara, who calls me, and of course I call the shop tonight. They inform me that sure enough, the "new" seamstress is now an old seamstress - she already quit! Boy does THAT make me feel "reassured" about all this. So after two disconnections, and speaking to three different people, and after first being told that now my first fitting would be Friday instead of Thursday, I freak out a bit and tell them that is unacceptable. Finally I speak to the seamstress who is supposedly going to alter my dress - she informs me to come to her house on Thursday - not the store - and she will work on the dress and then on Friday I can come back into the store for the second fitting. Geez......finally! I can't believe all the hassle with the bridal shop - I thought this was supposed to be easy! The thing that kinda ticks me off, and what I brought up, is the fact that NOONE bothered to contact me - I have no idea what would have happened if I just showed up there on Thursday morning like one might think I'd be able to..........thank goodness Krista called Sara and Sara called me! That's enough for me - I'm exhausted just thinking about all of it again!
